Zack Snyder Shares An Early Photo Of Batman, Superman And Wonder Woman In Costume Together
The debut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice did something historic for the big screen comic book movie genre. The second DCEU movie introduced Batman and Wonder Woman, and it brought the legendary DC Trinity together in live-action for the very first time. The monumental nature of that union was not lost on director Zack Snyder, and the director recently took to social media to share an image from the costume test that brought the heroes together. Check it out, below.
Truly a moving moment for DC fans. The black and white picture seen above was posted to Zack Snyder's Vero account, and it shows the costume test that brought united Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Ben Affleck as Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, respectively. Though other heroes like The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) would eventually get fully introduced during the events of Justice League, the introduction of the DC Trinity in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was the film that solidified the moment that the DC universe became a cinematic universe post-Man of Steel.
Of course, this photo leads us to wonder when we may see these characters unite for another adventure. We know that Wonder Woman 2 is currently on the way and set for a November 1, 2019 release date, and that Matt Reeves is currently developing a standalone Batman movie (though it remains unclear if Ben Affleck will return to the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne for that film). That said, it's not clear when a second Justice League movie will debut in theaters -- a stark contrast from when this picture was taken, as Zack Snyder's original approach to the DCEU involved a five-movie arc that would've included Justice League 2. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see how the folks behind the DCEU will choose to bring the Trinity together for another outing.
Fast-forwarding to the present, Zack Snyder has now mostly left the DCEU behind and moved on to new projects as a director. He's still involved as a producer on some projects like Wonder Woman 2, but his next film should take him away from the superhero genre, as he hopes to adapt Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead into a full-blown feature. That said, given the deluge of DC-related reveals that Snyder has posted to his social accounts in recent days, it seems like he still has quite a bit of passion for the landscape that he created.
